On February 19, a significant on-chain digital art transaction occurred, involving a collection of 10 Autoglyphs, a notable generative art project created by Larva Labs in April 2019.

Facilitated by the crypto art brokerage platform Fountain, the sale was announced to 5,000 ETH, equivalent to $14.536 million, and was acquired by a conventional art collector.

The uniqueness of this sale is amplified by the fact that the set is categorized as one of only three “dev sets,” with each of the 10 pieces possessing a series number below 100.

Autoglyphs, created by Matt Hall and John Watkinson of Larva Labs, are celebrated as the pioneering generative art pieces on the Ethereum blockchain. Released almost two years following their iconic CryptoPunks, this series of 512 unique creations has emerged as a highly sought-after collection among enthusiasts of generative art.

According to Schmitt, acquiring a set of 10 Autoglyphs is a prized accomplishment for collectors, renowned for its rarity and challenge. He notes that only seven other collections worldwide boast this achievement, with Larva Labs’ collection among them.
