JPMorgan CEO Defends Right to Buy Bitcoin Despite Skepticism – Money Wiper Crypto News Blog

[ad_1]

Jamie Dimon, the CEO of JPMorgan, holds a mixed view about the nature of Bitcoin. On public stages, Dimon has blasted Bitcoin, labeling the cryptocurrency as a “drug for criminals” and comparing it to cigarettes. However, he seems to be fueling the fire by encouraging the public to invest in it.

Dimon has stated, “I don’t know what bitcoin itself is for, but I defend your right to smoke a cigarette, I’ll defend your right to buy a bitcoin. I won’t personally ever buy bitcoin.”

This point of view, voiced by Edward Snowden, the former National Security Agency contractor and privacy advocate, among others, is that the stated opposition is disingenuous since JPMorgan’s earnings come, in part, from its business activities involving Bitcoin. This is what Snowden stated on his X platform account:

By identifying Bitcoin as one of the potential disruptors, Dimon is reflecting the gradual shift in attitude towards this cryptocurrency on Wall Street, which is still mostly skeptical about it.
