The Aptos Foundation and Jambo Technology, a Web3 developer focusing on African markets, announced a partnership on Thursday.

The collaboration aims to improve accessibility and education about Web3 in regions that could benefit the most. They plan to achieve this by combining Aptos’s innovative blockchain technology with Jambo’s dedication to digital inclusion. The partnership aims to improve accessibility and education regarding Web3 in areas where it can have the most impact.

The primary outcome of this partnership is the JamboPhone, tailored for users in Africa, Southeast Asia, and Latin America. Priced at $99, the device is said to be accessible in over 40 countries and comes equipped with pre-installed apps, including the Aptos-compatible wallet Petra and the Jambo App, to seamlessly integrate with the Aptos network.

The Jambo App serves as a key component of the JamboPhone experience, offering users a comprehensive introduction to Web3. Through tailored features and educational content, it provides access to DeFi, gaming, and various learning tools, all aimed at encouraging user engagement and empowerment within the Web3 sphere.

Aptos Foundation’s unveiling of the JamboPhone marks a significant move following in the footsteps of Solana. Solana had earlier released its first Android smartphone, the Saga, in June 2022 through its subsidiary Solana Mobile.
